How to Place Your Poly Tank
It is essential to have your tank on a flat level and compacted base. The base of your tank must be fully supported at all times. There must be adequate room around the Tank (150mm minimum) from other structures/objects such as trees, sheds, troughs & other water tanks. Under no circumstances should the tank be buried (fully or partially).
Concrete Slab
Concrete slab must be at least 25 MPa and 100mm (4 inches) thick with F62 mesh halfway through the mix. It should be screened flat and level with no high or low spots. The finish surface should have a trowelled finish. Slabs must be 300mm (12") wider in diameter than the tank.
FCR Base
FCR (fine crushed rock) bases must be 300mm (12 inches) wider in diameter than the tank and prepared as follows:

Level Ground
Remove at least 100mm (4 inches) of natural earth, ensuring the base is flat and level.

Box Base
This is important. Please read carefully. Regardless if the base is constructed above ground or inground. The FCR base MUST be fully boxed.

Fill Base
Refill with 100mm (4 inches) of FCR.

Compact Base
Once spread, thoroughly compact the FCR with suitable compacting equipment.

Level Base
Thoroughly screen surface to ensure the finished surface is perfectly FLAT AND LEVEL and free of stones, tree roots, etc.
Inspect the Base Regularly
Checking for and rectifying any undermining by water run-off or animals burrowing such as rodents, dogs, rabbits, etc.

Poly Fittings on Outlets Only
Poly fitting may only be used on the outlets of the tanks.

Support Your Plumbing
On all plumbing installations, the connections must be well-supported and not depend on the tank walls or outlets for support.

Raised Tanks Need Engineering Approval
Please note if poly tanks are to be raised off the ground by the means of a stand. The structure has to be approved by a structural engineer or you have voided your warranty.

Fit a Flexible Hose
A flexible hose must be installed in the pipework between the tank outlet and the pump or existing pipework. (Available from PineCrest)

Overflow to Stormwater
Tanks fitted with overflows, the overflow must be piped to a council-approved stormwater connection to avoid erosion of the FCR/CONCRETE bed/base/slab.

Flush Before First Use
Flush or clean water tank before first use.

Vent Tanks with High Inflow
The tank must be vented to prevent it from being subject to pressure or vacuum ESPECIALLY if the volume of water entering the tank exceeds the amount of water exiting the tank through the overflow. (E.g. 2 * 90mm down pipes entering the tank and there is only 1* 90mm overflow exiting the tank, this can cause vacuum effect, tank needs to be vented if this is the case to prevent damage to your tank).

No Standing on Top
Walking or standing on the top of the water tank is not permitted.

Built for Drinking Water
Each tank has been manufactured for the storage of drinking water and all materials used are suitable for contact with drinking water.
Failure to install water tanks to the above installation instructions will void the warranty. Also, note that any form of modifications/alterations will void the warranty.

A water tank needs a flat, level and fully supported base, either a concrete slab or a properly compacted crushed rock base. The base should extend at least 300mm wider than the tank all round.
A tank can be raised on a stand, but the structure needs to be approved by a structural engineer first. Skipping this step can void the tank's warranty.
Venting is needed when more water can enter a tank than can exit through the overflow, to prevent pressure or vacuum damage. A professional can assess whether your setup needs additional venting.
